Learn the basics of making a tarp shelter. Includes learning the taut line hitch, the truckers hitch and storm lashing. Find out about other types of creative shelters.

CAMP SKILLS DAY - Girl and Guider Event (for Guide aged girls) April 20, 2024 @ 8:45 am - 12:00 pm Cates Park, 4141 Dollarton Hwy, North Vancouver, BC V7G 1A1, Canada
This is an opportunity for Girl Guides to have fun learning three essential outdoor camping skills:
1. Shelters: How to erect sturdy tarp shelters (this will include learning the taut line hitch and truckers hitch)
2. Fires: How to set, light, maintain and extinguish a campfire safely
3. Outdoor cooking: A chance to try different methods.
Each topic will be covered in three round robin style 55 minute sessions.

Guiders must provide ratio and supervision as per Safe Guide. Guiders are also strongly recommended to participate with their girls.

Cost: $10
