Grouse

Grouse District falls between Capilano and Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver and offers guiding opportunities for girls and women, starting at age 5. Our units meet in the Edgemont Village, Delbrook, Upper Lonsdale and Pemberton Heights neighborhoods.

We currently offer Sparks (K-1), Embers (Grades 2-3), Guides (Grades 4-6), and Pathfinders (Grades 7-9).

We promote healthy life styles, outdoor activity, self-esteem, friendship, and mentoring opportunities for girls. Our units attend camps at Camp Capilano, Lighthouse Park, Hollyburn Chalet, Camp Olave, Jericho Hostel, to name a few. Our Pathfinders are offered opportunities for snow camping at the Area level. We also encourage travel opportunities for older girl members.

Each year our District organises one large girl event – a 2-day District Camp, and on the opposing year a Service Project event called the Hike for Hunger that culminates in a carnival for the girls. We encourage junior leadership and mentoring opportunities for our Pathfinders at these and other events.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always happy to have new members, and will do our best to place volunteers in a position that best suits their interests. At the moment we are actively looking for Sparks leaders and Guide leaders for our Pemberton Heights unit.
